My wedding photography featured in ‘Your Kent Wedding’

When Louisa met Peter back in 2001, it was love at first sight. Eleven years later Peter proposed… and of course Louisa said yes, to the delight of the couple’s three children. It’s just one of the many reasons I enjoy my role as a wedding photographer so much. I get to attend some of the happiest days of people’s lives and capture their special day for posterity.

Creating wedding history for happy families

It’s an amazing thought. The wedding photos I take are passed from generation to generation, through children and grandchildren, down through the decades. The images I capture provide some of the all-important emotional glue that holds families together, keeping beautiful memories bright and clear. With my help unforgettable occasions remain fresh in people’s minds. It’s a real privilege.

As featured in Your Kent Wedding magazine…

On this occasion, featured in Your Kent Wedding magazine, beautiful St Paul’s Church in Rusthall, Kent, was the venue for the ceremony itself, followed by a reception at High Rocks, Tunbridge Wells, with its spectacular views across the ‘garden of England’. What an amazing wedding venue.

It was a glorious late July day and the occasion was especially poignant because the bride’s beloved father had passed away in 2013. St Paul’s Church was his final resting place and had already become close to the couple’s heart.

I was delighted to see my wedding photos featured in the magazine, and was genuinely touched to read  Louisa’s comments about my work. In her words, “We chose an exceptional photographer. We’re so thrilled with Barry’s work, the wedding lasted a day but our beautiful pictures and memories will last a lifetime.”

Capturing the atmosphere of the wedding to perfection

With wedding photography the trick is to capture the personality of the occasion, the people and the venue accurately and creatively while remaining in the background. It isn’t my day. It’s your day. Over the years I’ve developed the ability to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time, neither seen nor heard most of the time. The end results, I think, speak for themselves: a mixture of formal and informal, reportage and posed photos that reflect the wedding, personalities and celebrations perfectly.

It’s my job to make everyone, from the children to the grown-ups and everyone in between, look their best, pinning down all the most special parts of a wholly special event. The end result is a suite of intimate images that reveal the day progressing from start to finish, so the happy couple and their loved ones can relive it again and again in all its emotional splendour.

Louisa said it all when she commented, “We still smile when we remember our wedding. We were both so overjoyed with the way it went and being surrounded by the love and happiness of our friends and family.” Which is exactly the way it ought to be.

A big thank you to Louisa and Peter!

Thank you to Louisa and Peter for making me feel so welcome. I’m proud to have played my small part in your big day. It was a delight to meet you all, and I’m so pleased you love your wedding photos.
